When is it ok to start listening to Christmas Music?

I've always wondered when it's officially ok to start listening to Christmas music. I'd be listening to it right now...but for some reason I can't do it. It feels like it's not right until after Thanksgiving. I wondered if I'm the only one that feels this way...so I thought I'd find out from you all...When is it ok to start listening to Christmas music?

Personally while, I would listen to Christmas anytime of the year it depends on why - to Praise Jesus, yes, but here in Alberta there are several radio stations that play Christmas music - you know all that cute country pop stuff starting the first of December or earlier and then they quit on December 25th.   They only play it because their corporate sponsors want people to get in the mood to spend money.  One year a major ad campaign's slogan was the "Season of Giving" - drove me nuts!  Wake up people - Christmas isn't over until January 6th!  Another factor in my timing is my son's birthday is December 8 so I don't generally do anything too Christmasy until after that.

Re: When is it ok to start listening to Christmas Music?

I think around Thanksgiving time is when most people start listening to their Christmas tunes, but because it is my absolute favorite and I have so much of it I find that I can't get through it all if I wait until after Thanksgiving.  A few years ago I started listening to it at the beginning of November, but as my Christmas music collection increased I moved it to the first of October.  Now I start listening to it on September 1 (I have over 50 Christmas CDs).  I always wait until after January 6 to stop the music.
