  • Krystal Meyers Goes Prime-Time

Dove Award-nominated rocker Krystal Meyers has spent much of 2006 gracing the covers of magazines (Nylon Magazine Japan, Bounce Magazine, Brio Magazine), appearing on television (MTV Japan, The Logan Show), and taking her music halfway around the world, to Japan. Now Meyers is taking her music to prime-time as her song “Together,” from her second album Dying For A Heart, is scheduled to be used by NBC to promote its new, hit drama “Heroes” via television and radio spots over the coming weeks. “Heroes” airs Mondays on NBC at 9 PM ET.

“I am so excited that NBC selected my song, ‘Together,’ to be a part of their new show, ‘Heroes’,” comments an excited Krystal Meyers. “As soon as my record label told me I freaked out! It's an awesome opportunity and I am very thankful for it.”

Since the release of her self-titled debut on Essential Records (2005), eighteen year-old Krystal Meyers has garnered a Dove Award nomination for New Artist of the Year, landed the #1 spot on general market radio in Japan (“Anticonformity”), had five Top 10 singles in the U.S. (“The Way To Begin,” “My Savior,” “Anticonformity,” “Fire,” and “Collide”), and performed before more than 400,000 people. Dying For A Heart, the second record from Meyers, landed in stores September 2006.

  • NewSong to Bring the Christmas Hope

NewSong hopes to recreate Christmas magic with its new holiday CD, The Christmas Hope, which releases on September 26. The band proved its magic when in 2001 it scored a #1 mainstream Billboard hit with “The Christmas Shoes” and followed
up later that year with the release of their first Christmas album of the same name.

The Christmas Shoes inspired a series of three New York Times bestselling books by Donna VanLiere and two CBS Movies of the Week, including 2005's smash “The Christmas Blessing." The holiday ratings success proved to be the most watched movie on television in 2005 and included NewSong on stage in the movie singing the title track. The Christmas Hope is the third book in the series and this time, the book inspired the new NewSong CD and its title track.

"We have been incredibly blessed in so many ways by all the success. It is only fitting that we embraced the song and what followed as the foundation for this new Christmas
record," said founding member Eddie Carswell. "At the same time, The Christmas Hope is also totally unique and we hope that that great experience of making this record translates into a thoroughly enjoyable and satisfying Christmas record for everyone who listens."

  • My Charge to you!

I seem to be suffering from a minor case of “writer’s blog”…my own self diagnosis.  It always seems to happen right around the same time…moments before my blog is due.  Maybe a little Waking Ashland can remedy this…ah, that's better!  Now where was I?  This week has been pretty tumultuous as far as current events go.  There is obviously unrest in a multitude of nations being ravaged by war, the one most televised being Israel and Hezbollah.  Twenty-four terrorist were arrested in London, a preemptive strike to keep them from blowing up passenger airliners as they land on U.S. soil.  And even David Beckham won’t be returning to the England national team!  I am not sure which story is getting more coverage in England right now.  All such issues force us to put our hope in something greater or crumble under the fear of the unexpected.  I say put your faith in something greater!  Enjoy the life around you…pray for those in conflict and rejoice with those who rejoice.  If you want to do something, try to make life better for those around you!  Share with them your wisdom.  Listen to their experiences.  Cry when they cry.  People are the only thing that carry over into eternity; no other effort has that lasting ramification.  We know we have a greater purpose, and that is to love one another!  My charge for the week…try to love someone who does not share my perspective because loving someone who loves you back is easy and expected, but to share love with someone who wouldn’t love you back is to be Christ like.

  • My blogging debut!

    This is my blogging debut!

Be forewarned..I am not a self-proclaimed blogger but it just so happens that one of the ‘perks’ of my position is the opportunity to blog on a regular basis.  I was never a gifted writer, according to my creative writing professor…thanks Dr. Potter but I could have used a little more motivation than describing inanimate objects.  Nevertheless, 3 years out of college and 3 jobs later, somehow I managed to find my way into a digital music organization in 2005.  Despite my writing skills, I seemed to impress them with my limited knowledge of Christian music that seamed to end somewhere around the time a little French Canadian band called The Kry broke up (around 2000 I believe).  I was sure these guys were going straight to the top, as for the smaller bands on the scene like Relient K and Switchfoot…I felt they had a good sound but wouldn’t ever really hit it big.  So it’s now 6 years later and I have had to play catch up.  I learned DC Talk split up… over creative differences I'm sure… Michael W. Smith keeps putting out albums...go figure, and some little youth band in Georgia has made quite a name for themselves breaking sales records left and right with an album titled Lifesong. I have ventured back into the Christian music world and have eaten crow over some of my musical predictions and criticisms.  But the good news is…I hear The Kry is back together and touring, watch out everyone, these guys are really going to make it big this time!
